Homemade foot scrubs can improve the appearance of calloused bunions

There's no need to splurge on pricey foot scrubs.

Homemade foot scrubs can improve the appearance of calloused bunions Bunion correction takes time, patience and a good bunion splint or set of orthotics. In the meantime, you can improve the appearance of calloused bunions by using a foot scrub a few times each week.

Exfoliating your bunions won't reduce the bony deformity, but it may get rid of that scaly look they tend to take on and make you more confident kicking off your shoes in front of others. Best of all, you can make an effective, fragrant scrub out of ingredients you may already have in your kitchen.

Sugar based scrubs are super easy to craft. Just mix a palm full – or two, depending on the severity of your calluses – with any kind of cooking or bath oil. Supplement this with lavender or lemon essential oil for an aromatherapy treatment while you scrub away at your bunions.

Exfoliants made from Epsom salts are also effective, and perhaps a little more heavy-duty than sugar scrubs. Mix them with your favorite nourishing oil, rub all over feet then dunk your tootsies into warm water. The salts will dissolve and – voila! – the scrub is now a soothing soak.
