Christian Louboutin compares a good shoe to facial bone structure

Everyone's favorite French shoemaker is in the papers again.

Christian Louboutin compares a good shoe to facial bone structure The man whose name has become synonymous with a cherry red-soled high heel recently spoke at the Victoria and Albert Museum about – what else? – fashion and footwear.

"A good pump is a silhouette, like the bone structure of the face. It's like a beautiful face with no make-up. You can cover a not-so-beautiful face with make-up, but it is just a mask - it is the same with shoes," said Christian Louboutin, quoted by Racked.com.

Additionally, the designers said that toe cleavage does for the leg what actual cleavage does for the overall silhouette. It lengthens, as though four-inch heels weren't enough to add stature.

Unfortunately, the footwear may also cause something not-so-desirable: bunions or hammer toe.

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, high heels can exacerbate bony deformities like bunions or hammer toe. Luckily, bunion splints or orthotics may be able to correct the conditions without the need for painful bunion surgery
