Blogger touts bunion-friendly boots Strappy sandal season is drawing to an end, which is likely a relief for individuals plagued with bunions or hammer toe. Women eager to pull on fall boots may want to take a look at the new offerings from the brand Earthies, according to writer Catherine Schuller, of Daily Venus Diva.

Schuller reports that the once hippy-dippy brand now features stylish boots with slight heels for both comfort and height. Additionally, the footwear has appeased the blogger's foot conditions.

"Years of modeling and dance and a family history of bunions and hammer toes have left my feet ravaged. And, sorry, I am a chicken about foot surgery, so I have no option at the present time but to look for the most comfortable footwear that somehow doesn’t compromise on style and gives me the most fashion that I can find," Schuller wrote.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) reports that people with bunions should seek out shoes with a wide toe box and good arch support. Also, fit is key in preventing or accommodating bunions, according to the AAOS.

The medical website recommended that individuals get fitted for shoe size by a professional, since some people may unwittingly be wearing the wrong size.

Additionally, bunion sufferers may want to consider using bunion splints or orthotics, which may prevent or correct the foot deformities without the need for bunion surgery
