New breed of Crocs may provide bunion relief

Crocs steps into the toning shoes game, and creates a pair that may be perfect for bunion sufferers.

New breed of Crocs may provide bunion relief While many brands of toning shoes available may not be suitable for individuals with bunions, Crocs recently announced the release of a model that has a wide toe box and ample cushioning, which may help alleviate pressure on bunions.

According to Business World Online, the Crocs Tone, part of the company's Wellness collection, features "mega-cushy" beds, bumps meant to stimulate blood flow, soft pads positioned at key pressure points and an odor-resistant additive, for bunion sufferers with dual foot problems.

The article stated that the footwear is designed to put even pressure on the foot, which may be perfect for people with imbalanced biomechanics, a known exacerbator of bunions and hammer toe.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons reports that individuals with bunions or hammer toe should seek out shoes with wide toe boxes, good arch support, ample cushioning and relatively low heels.

While wearing proper footwear may alleviate bunion pain during the day, it won't correct the bony deformity. Luckily, bunion splints or orthotics may be effective in preventing or reducing the appearance of bunions or hammer toe without the need for bunion surgery
