Poker player amasses 1,200 pairs of Louboutins
Beth Shak has spent much of her poker winnings on bunion-inducing high heels.
Poker player Beth Shak was recently profiled in the Daily Mail because of her apparent obsession with collecting shoes.
The news source reported that Shak has a collection of 1,200 pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes - enough to give bunions to a small country.
At up to $900 per pair, the Daily Mail estimated that she has about $420,000 worth of footwear sitting in her closet. That is a significant chunk of change, even considering that PokerPages.com reports that her total winnings add up to $478,412.
Among the luxury footwear in her collection is a pair of suede thigh-high boots and a $4,000 pair of alligator skin pumps.
While Shak's shoe closet may make her the envy of many women, it may also give her bunions.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons reports that high heels can exacerbate the advancement of bunions or hammer toe because of the pressure they place on the ball of the foot.
