Shoes are an important vacation staple for many women - especially those with bunions

A UK survey recently found that 96 percent of women take at least five pairs of shoes with them on vacation.

Shoes are an important vacation staple for many women - especially those with bunions New research from ladies clothing brand Savoir reveals that many women spend more on their vacation wardrobe than they do on the trip itself, with 85 percent of ladies older than 50 reporting expenditures as high as $2,300.

Additionally, nearly all of the women surveyed said that they planned to take as many as five pairs of shoes on their retreat.

"It's clear from the findings that a woman's answer is very practical - to make sure that she has every advantage when it comes to what she wears on holiday. She needs clothes and accessories that flatter, show off her good points and make her feel great about herself," said psychologist Susan Quilliam.

Lynda Bellingham, spokesperson for the parent company of Savoir, said it's a good idea for women to bring two pairs of wedges and two pairs of flat sandals for a warm weather vacation. Choose neutral colors like tan, white or black so that they will coordinate with a number of outfits.

Women who endure bunions or hammer toe may have a special need for spare shoes while on vacation, since the deformity requires plenty of toe space. Additionally, ladies who wish to reduce the appearance of their bunions before vacation may want to consider bunion splints or orthotics before embarking on their journey.
