Model who wore museum-quality 9-inch tall shoes known to have bunions

Sky-high Vivienne Westwood shoes to be displayed at museum.

Bunions from 9-inch tall shoesIn 1993, leggy supermodel Naomi Campbell took a memorable spill on the runway wearing a pair of cobalt blue, faux crocodile skin oxford-style platform shoes at a Vivienne Westwood fashion show.

The moment lives in infamy, as evidenced by the fact that the 9-inch tall shoes will soon be on display at the Bowes Museum as part of an exhibit highlighting some of the most artistic Westwood footwear creations, reports BBC News.

"Shoes must have very high heels and platforms to put women's beauty on a pedestal," Westwood said, quoted by the news source.

The touring exhibition is also scheduled to be displayed in Japan, New York and China.

While Campbell is known for her staggering beauty and ability to walk in towering heels, it's also been reported that the model has bunions due to her years of strutting the runway in towering footwear, according to the Canadian magazine Maclean's.

She may be in luck, however, since bunion splints or orthotics have been shown to help correct bunions without the need for painful bunion surgery
