How to walk down the aisle with style - and bunions
Women with bunions may find it difficult to find pretty shoes for their wedding day.
Some ladies spend upward of a year to find the perfect wedding gown, and finding the right shoes can be just as difficult of a decision - especially when the bride has bunions.
However, it's still possible to be stylish from the ankles down despite the red, bony deformity. Women just need to keep a few things in mind while shopping.
While it may be tempting to choose a pair of towering heels for the big day given the height and stature they provide, such footwear is not a great option for women with bunions. High heels place excess pressure on the ball of the foot and the toes, which may exacerbate foot conditions. Instead, choose a pair of kitten heels - no more than 2.5 inches in height - in order to maintain comfort throughout the day.
Additionally, women with bunions should search for a pair of shoes with a wide toe box. This may mean opting for a rounded toe rather than a trendy, pointed pair.
It may come as a relief to know that wedding shoes do not need to be white, which provides more options for brides-to-be. Brightly colored footwear can be a fashionable accent to a wedding gown as they peek out from underneath.
Finally, women may want to consider using bunion splints or orthotics in the months leading up to their wedding in an effort to correct or reduce the appearance of bunions.
