Gwyneth Paltrow recommends spring footwear that may cause bunions

Celebrity's seal of approval might cause foot pain

Gwyneth Paltrow is surely not lacking anything in the height department. Yet, in her newsletter GOOP, the actress recommends towering Marni and Azzedine Alaia heels that will lend credibility to any style maven, but also look like they are sure to leave feet aching.

Additionally, Paltrow gave her seal of approval to a pair of Christian Louboutin animal print gladiator sandals and some embellished suede Antik Batik sandals.

Either way, bunion splints or orthotics may be in order, since heels may cause bony protrusions and the sandals will do nothing to hide them.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons reports that the pressure that high heels put on the toes and ball of the foot has been known to exacerbate bunions or hammer toe.

Bunion surgery may help to correct the conditions, but is also painful and costs even more than Paltrow's beloved designer heels. Bunion splints or orthotics are an inexpensive, effective way to help prevent or treat bunions or hammer toe, thereby avoiding the need for an operation.
